The HWW Grapevine Festivus will include Kim and Christina’s convenient interpretations of the original Festivus activities made famous by writer Daniel O'Keefe, who is author of "The Real Festivus: The Handbook for the Rest of Us" and script writer for the television show Seinfeld. ABOUT THE ORIGINAL FESTIVUS AND THE HWW VERSION
Festivus was created in February 1966 by Dan O'Keefe, of Chappaqua, NY. O'Keefe, a former writer for Reader's Digest, says that the idea just popped into his head. It happened before any of his children were born, and was originally a celebration of the first date that he had with his wife Deborah. Dan’s son, Daniel O’Keefe popularized it while writing it into episodes of the popular situation comedy starring Jerry Seinfeld.
Healthy Wealthy Wow hosts loved the idea when they first interviewed Daniel O’Keefe on their talk show just after he had published his book, “The Real Festivus” in December 2005. In true tradition of the original holiday, they immediately made plans for their own interpretation of the ‘holiday for the rest of us’. They decided that to really enjoy their own holiday it had to be after Christmas, New Year's and Valentines -- yet before the winter blues killed them. The HWW Grapevine Festivus, was first celebrated in the month they created just for the holiday, in Febarch 2006. One week just wasn’t enough so this year HWW Festivus and its new HWW Month Febarch is extended to two weeks. 2007 ( the last week of February and the first week of March) to include all of the Festivus activities which are their women’s version of the original Festivus events.
